Join esteemed English professor Christine Shugrue for an enlightening discussion and examination of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Winner of the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize in fiction, The Grapes of Wrath is set during The Great Depression and tackles topics from community and perseverance to dehumanization and guilt. This slow reading opportunity will pair with the Walker Evans American Photographs exhibition. If possible, please read the first 10 chapters of the book before attending the first lecture, but this is not required! Each participant is responsible for their own copy of the book, but a familiarity with the text not required.
